Bilberry picking on Whitwell Moor

Perhaps a mizzly morning on the moors isn't the best time to pick Bilberries, but it does provide exquisite conditions for admiring spiderwebs...

I last visited this place a year ago and the weather conditions were quite different; a perfect picnic setting with a big, blue sky and a gentle breeze. I spotted Lizards hanging around in the Bilberry bushes and saw my first Dung Beetle, which was very cool indeed. Today was not a day for flying insects or cold-blooded creatures and I'm quite sure Wilf would have opted out of accompanying me had he known laborious gathering of small berries (and subsequent waiting around) would be involved...

Totally worth getting rained on as far as my breakfast is concerned!
