Worms
'Little girls who go around after it rains and rescue worms from the sidewalk are the cornerstone of our society. We should all strive to have that level of compassion for each other and the natural world' - Unknown
I had to include this quote because it resonated with me so much. As kids, my sister and I would head out on our bikes in the pouring rain and save earth worms evicted by sudden downpours from around our grandparents estate. We’d return, our baskets brimming with bedraggled passengers who'd then be carefully placed under hedges or popped in the compost bin, if the rain was particularly heavy.
Small creatures need looking after the most because the majority of people don’t even notice them, let alone look out for them and give them a helping hand.
Anyone who knows me, knows that strolling anywhere with me will include lots of stops to help bumble bees or shift snails, slugs and caterpillars, off paths. I just can't imagine being any other way.
