Custom Pet Ornaments - Image Requirements

For those thinking of purchasing a custom pet ornament, if you’re anything like me, I'm sure you’ll have a thousand and one images of your feline or canine companion… however, when it comes to choosing suitable images so I can capture them in clay, you may be unsure on what to provide. If so, don't worry, Wilf is on hand to help!

I've taken a few photos of Wilf below to illustrate some basic requirements. As your little friend will be sculpted in a standing position, it's really important you can provide an image of their side profile, standing. Equally, a nice clear front headshot so I can see their facial features. If they have any unusual or distinctive markings, please also include these, and don't forget to include photos which show their tail and feet, as these are often forgotten about. Lighting is also important, to show off their true colouring and natural light brings this out nicely.

As you can see here, Wilf has short legs with a long body and scruffy coat (scruffiness changeable and dependant on the time of year). The colour of his coat is a combination of browns/cream/ginger/white. Note the different colours in his tail, and the ginger patch on top of his head which cannot be seen from looking at him head-on. He also has a darker brown stripe down his back which isn't noticeable unless he's sitting/laid down. His tail is always upright and curved.

Where purchases are being made for gifts/surprises, or if the ornament is a memorial of a pet no longer with us, I am more than happy to work with what few images you may have. The guide above is to demonstrate what to focus on when the dog or cat in question can be photographed (preferably outdoors to show their true colouring).

As always, if you have any questions, drop me a message through the shop website here 😊
